What a crazy week it has been! So much is going on in the world right now, and with all of us (hopefully!) staying home, we have a lot of extra time on our hands. You guys loved the idea of having a blog post full of things you can do while stuck at home, so I did just that (and also included some of my favorite Netflix/podcast suggestions)! While we’re entering into this temporary season of practicing social distancing, don’t use this as an excuse to not pursue the people around you and maintain a sense of community. We need to come together now more than ever! FaceTime your friends/family, check in on them, and do whatever you can to be there for them during this time.
I’ve been super into podcasts lately, and love throwing one on while I’m getting ready in the morning, cooking in the kitchen, or if I’m doing any cleaning/organizing. I only included four of them in my list because I’m pretty picky when it comes to podcasts (so you know these ones are good)! Crime Junkie is such a good one if you’re into murder mysteries/conspiracies/crime. Every single episode keeps me hooked the ENTIRE time! I find it to be so interesting and thrilling! Fight Hustle, End Hurry might be my favorite podcast of all time. It’s newer, so there are only a few episodes, but they’re incredible. Jefferson Bethke and John Mark Comer partner to discuss the hustle culture in today’s world, and why it’s not in alignment with the way of Jesus. Their books (“To Hell with the Hustle” and “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry”) and this podcast have completely changed my view on how I want to live my life. Correct Opinions is hosted by the comedian, Trey Kennedy, and I think this type of podcast is something we all need right now. He’s hilarious, light-hearted, and always says what everyone else is thinking! The Bridgetown Audio podcast that I listed is based out of Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, and one of my favorite pastors, John Mark Comer is currently doing daily meditations on scripture. These episodes are just a few minutes long, and they go live at 9am PST every morning. It’s such a great way to get your heart centered and focused on the Lord in the morning!
I hope these lists help while we’re all stuck at home for the next little bit. Remember to take this time to really slow down and rest. Nourish your mind, body, and soul. Spend a lot of time with Jesus, spend time journaling/reflecting, and just BE. While being forced to stay home and slow down may seem like a punishment to some, I really think it’s going to give our society a wake up call, and help us understand the importance of rest, rejuvenation, and solitude. Light a candle, open your windows, and allow your soul to breathe again.
Y’all know I couldn’t leave you hanging without sharing a few of my favorite loungewear pieces 😉 If we have to stay home, we might as well look cute while staying comfy, right?!
